Richmond Toyota Dealer Supports Muscular Dystrophy Association

The Haley Toyota Certified Center is once again participating in the Southside Richmond Muscular Dystrophy Association Lock-Up program. The dealership General Manager, Bill Simmons, participated last year and had such a fun time that he did not hesitate for one second when asked to do it again this year. This yearly event asks each "jailbird" to raise $3000 bail before they attend the M.D.A. Lock-Up on May 25th. The Association sends a Chesterfield County Police cruiser to the place of business and delivers the jailbird to the lockup where they will need to post their bail. If they have not achieved theirr goal by that date, they stay in the "jail" and hit the phones until their donations reach the bail amount. This years lockup location will be at the Richmond Sheraton Park South hotel on Midlothian Turnpike.

What Your Bail Money Donation Provides

All donations support the 2100 families in Central Virginia that MDA serves. The money raised through these donations supports nearly 80 week long summer camps, 200 hospital affiliated clinics, with 77% of every dollar spent going directly to research, services, and education. Your donation also pays for many other services that the MDA provides their families, such as:

$30 pays for 1 flu shot
$74 pays for 1 minute of research
$100 pays for 1 support group session
$500 assists one person for annual repair of durable medical equipment
$800 send one kid to MDA Summer Camp

How To Donate And Help The Cause

The dealership has a lot of fun activities going on to help raise the bail. The dealership service manager, Allen Wines, is performing a Virgina Sate Inspection and exterior car wash, a $35 value, for only a $25 donation to the MDA.  The dealership is also having a giant Yard Sale on Saturday May 21st. This promises to be a fun filled day. Many quality items are being donated by our employees and vendor partners. There will be a cookout, lemonade stand, car washes, bake sale, and more with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the MDA. An easy way for you to help out would be to "like" the dealerships Facebook page. The dealership is donating $1 for each new fan who "likes" the page until May 25th. Also, a special web page has been setup to make secure online donations to help Bill raise his bail money. The link to the page is https://www.joinmda.org/southsideva2011/bsimmons. Our dealership is located at 8301 Midlothian Turnpike, only 1/2 mile East of the Powhite Parkway. We look forward to seeing you at our Yard Sale or on our Facebook page!

HaleyToyota Certified Center Congratulates Kevin Ellis For 25 Years Of Service

The Haley Toyota Certified Center recently recognized technician Kevin Ellis for 25 years of service. Kevin has been with the Richmond Toyota dealer since 1985 and has many satisfied repeat customers. Mr. John Krebsbach, Toyota Field Technical Specialist, traveled to Richmond to congratulate Kevin and present him with a very nice trophy commemorating his years of service.

Service departments are a crucial part of any successful dealership. They contain more people, equipment and technology than any other department. Skilled technicians are the key to any successful service department. Technicians usually begin their careers performing basic maintenance, safety inspections and minor repairs. As their skills and experience grow, they will diagnose, repair or replace items such as brake systems, transmissions, heating and air conditioning units and cooling systems. When you become a Master Certified Technician, you are able to tackle the most challenging repairs. Along with technical skills, technicians need good communication abilities to work with service advisors, fellow technicians and customers. An eagerness to continually learn and develop skills is also important for success. Kevin Ellis has taken many hours of online Toyota training classes to develop his skills as a technician. The Haley Toyota Certified Center is proud to have a dedicated employee like Kevin on our staff.
