Haley Auto Group Sale-a-thon to benefit Muscular Dystrophy Association

The Haley Automotive Group will be having a car sale-a-thon to raise funds for the Central Virginia Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), a nonprofit health agency dedicated to finding treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and related neuromuscular diseases.

Visit one of four local Haley Automotive Group locations listed below between Saturday, August 25th and Monday, September 3rd.  For every new and used vehicle purchased, Haley will donate $50 to MDA.  Mention this article when you take a test drive and Haley will donate an additional $10 to MDA.  Details for the test drive gift will be posted in the showroom or you can ask a friendly salesperson about the program when you arrive.

Each Haley location has set a goal of raising at least $800 and sending one local child to MDA Summer Camp.  Every year approximately 55 local children with a neuromuscular disease attend the MDA Summer Camp at the Airfield 4-H Center in Wakefield, VA.  All funds raised for the Central Virginia Muscular Dystrophy Association stay locally and allow the Association to provide comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy, and education.  MDA currently provides worldwide research and more than 200 clinics nation-wide, including local clinics at VCU Medical Center and the Children’s Hospital of Richmond.

Besides donating $50 for every new and used car sold during this time, Haley also has selected many new and used certified vehicles that will have special prices, indicated by MDA sales tags in the window.  New Ford, Toyota, Buick and GMC vehicles are available.  They also have over 500 used vehicles of all makes and models with factory certification on many of the vehicles.  Haley has financing programs with as low as 0% available as well as great lease deals.  They also offer payments to help you feel good about your monthly car budget.

For more information about the Haley Auto Group Sale-a-thon or MDA, please contact Liz Nixon, Fundraising Coordinator for the Central Virginia MDA at 804-285-2961 or enixon@mdausa.org.  You may also visit http://haleyauto.com for more information on the Haley Auto Group and participating locations.  Thank you in advance for supporting MDA!

Haley Toyota Certified Center Is Hiring For Automotive Sales Positions

If you have ever considered applying for a automotive sales position, the time to do so is right now! The Haley Toyota Certified Sales Center is in need of 6 sales consultants to begin a training class scheduled for the first week of May. If you are a recent college graduate with a degree in marketing or business, that would be a plus. The ideal candidate for our training class will possess a high degree of confidence and enthusiasm. If you can provide those two qualities, we will provide you with the knowledge that you need to be successful.

Market Value Pricing
Our dealership realizes that the majority of consumers do not want to spend hours negotiating the price of a car. Neither do we. We also realize that the negotiation process has kept qualified candidates such as yourself from possibly applying for sales positions in dealerships. Our Market Value Pricing approach removes the negotiation from the sale of our vehicles by providing a sale price up front and compared to all other like vehicles in a 100 mile radius to our dealership. All of our vehicles have undergone a 110 point quality assurance check for safety and reliability. We provide our customers with an AutoCheck Vehicle History Report and service records for the vehicle.

Non-Commissioned Pay Plan And Five Day Work Week
The retail automobile business has long been thought of as a straight commission, long hours type of business. We realize that you have to make a living and offer a guaranteed weekly salary plus bonus and incentive levels. We appreciate that there needs to be a balance in our emloyees lives between work and personal time. Your normal weekly schedule will be 45 hours in a 5 day work week. Our bonus and incentives will offer you the oppurtunity to reach for the stars with unlimited income potential. Your earnings will be a direct reflection to your efforts. You will have a large inventory of 500+ vehicles to offer to your customer. Sales consultants at our dealership have access to inventory from all 6 Haley Auto Group stores.

Desired Applicant Qualifications
The internet has changed the way that car dealers do business and communicate with their customers. We are looking for candidates that can enthusiastically provide our customers with the information that they are looking for, both in person and electronically. We will expect that you are proficient in email writing skills, and the use of computers in general. You will learn several different methods of promoting yourself online as a professional autombile sales consultant through the use of press releases, blogging, and on social media platforms. You should possess an upbeat positive attitude, high energy level, and be willing to undergo our 2 week training process.
A clean driving record and proof of insurabilty is a must as you will have to be licensed by the D.M.V. to sell vehicles in the state of Virginia. You will have to take a test at the D.M.V. and pass a criminal background check prior to being granted the license. We will prepare you for the test as part of your training process.

Market Value Pricing at Leading Richmond Used Cars Dealer

Haley Toyota Certified Center, a leading seller of Richmond used cars, would like to inform its customers that they can trust the price of any used vehicle on the lot.  With the economy still recovering, customers have been concerned about the potential for sticker shock.  This sticker shock has come from other dealers raising their prices due to the higher cost of purchasing the used cars they have on their lots.

Since car buyers are holding on to their vehicles longer than they used to, there has been concern about the potential for this to happen across the board.  At Haley Toyota Certified Center, there is no need to worry about this problem.  This Richmond used cars dealer has and will always use market value pricing when determining the price of any used car on their lot.  But you may be asking, what is market value pricing?  The answer to this question is a simple one, actually. Read on and view the video below.

Market value pricing (MVP), available on the entire lot of used cars at this Richmond used cars dealership, is more than just a catchy acronym.  Haley Toyota Certified Center knows that car buyers will do their research before showing up to the dealership, especially when looking for the best price possible on a great used vehicle.  This is why Haley finds it important to price their vehicles relative to what they are on the market, creating great savings for you, the customer!

Richmond Used Cars Available for Market Value Pricing

Richmond Used CarsSo how does Haley Toyota Certified Center, a prominent Richmond used cars dealership, determine the price?  Unlike most of their competitors, Haley feels that a vehicle’s worth is determined by availability and demand, not for the price they bought it at.  Customers can feel satisfied knowing they got a fair shake when they come to Haley for their used car needs.

Haley Toyota Certified Center will not inflate any of their prices on any of the used vehicles they purchase for their lot.  Regardless of how much was spent on purchasing the vehicle from a previous owner, customers can rest easy knowing that Haley will not pass on this extra cost to its customers.  Haley has always valued its customers and believes that they are the number one priority in their business.

With a commitment to market value pricing, Haley Toyota Certified is the place to go when looking for that high quality used vehicle.  There is quite a variety of vehicles currently on the lot so now is a great time to come in and check them out.  With great financing and options available, Haley Toyota Certified is the place to be this winter!

A trip down memory lane

Haley Toyota Certified Center GM Bill Simmons reflects on his life in the car business.

Reprinted with permission from a recent article in the Richmond Times-Dispatch and writer Jon Sealy.

Bill Simmons, General Manager Haley Certified Center

Last month the Richmond Drives crew wheeled over to Haley Toyota Certified Center and met with Bill Simmons, the general manager. He and I sat down in his office to discuss his history in the automotive business, which involved a recent cool twist involving Simmons’ former boss.

Let’s start with your first car.

My first car was a ’72 Chevy Camaro. Mine was a 6-cylinder. My older brother had a Z-28, but when it was my turn my dad had learned his lesson about getting teenagers hot rods. When it came time for me to drive, he thought maybe a hot rod isn’t the best thing. I got the 6-cylinder version of the Camaro. I kept it a long, long time until it finally wouldn’t go anymore.

How did you get into the car business?

I got into the business in September 1978. I was working the night shift in a grocery store. A friend that I went to high school with, his dad was used car manager for a local dealership. On my day off, he’d pay me to drive cars to the auction in Fredericksburg for him, which exposed me to the business. I enjoyed it and here we are today, talking 32 years later.

I started selling cars at Lawrence Dodge on Broad Street. I wanted to work closer to home and for an import dealership, so I went to work for what was then Clover Toyota Mazda, and is now the Haley Toyota Certified Center. I then moved up to finance manager at Dick Strauss Ford. I spent 16 years working for Mr. Strauss — he was my mentor in the car business. I learned an awful lot from him. He told me a long time ago, "Bill, the only place success comes before work is in the dictionary," and that’s my credo. I hope I can go out with the respect that Mr. Strauss went out with when he decided to retire. He wasn’t just our boss, he was our friend and mentor.
In 2005, Haley approached me to manage their Certified Preowned dealership. We worked out a deal and I came to work for them. Here I am managing the dealership I worked at in the early ’80s. Here’s a cool twist: The former owner is a service customer. He drives a Prius and has his car serviced here. When he saw me in his former office, it made for some fun conversation and a trip down memory lane.

What do you do when you’re not at work?

I love to golf — I’m a member of Stonehenge country club — and I like to spend time with my family. I’m active in local civics events. This year, for example, the employees of the dealership and me have participated in raising funds for the M.D.A., United Way and the Susan Komen Foundation. We are currently selling Christmas trees here on the lot with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the Chesterfield Colonial Heights Christmas Mother program.

What’s new at the dealership? Anything coming up?

We’re offering some great financing programs. Overall, traditionally used car prices are soft at the auctions at this time of year. We can buy them a little less expensive and we pass those savings along to the customers. So look for our ads in The Times-Dispatch and on our website, http://www.haleycertified.com/, for some great deals on preowned cars and trucks.

Haley Toyota Certified Center Employees Enjoy a Day at The Byrd

The Haley Toyota Certified Center held its annual employee holiday party at the Byrd Theatre in Carytown.

The employees of the Haley Toyota Certified Center celebrated the holiday season on Sunday December the 5th at the fabulous Byrd Theatre in Carytown on Sunday. The Richmond used car dealership normally holds a covered dish party for their employees in the showroom each year. But the dealerships General Manager, Bill Simmons, wanted to do something different this year. The dealership wanted to have an event that would also include the family members of the employees. The dealerships employees and their families were treated to a private party at The Byrd Theatre to view the Will Ferrell holiday movie Buddy The Elf. A special surprise for those in attendance was an appearance by Byrd organist, Bob Gulledge, who played Christmas music on the theaters Mighty Wurlitzer organ prior to the movie. The Rudolf Wurlitzer Company, which custom made organs for the leading theatres of the country, installed the organ when the theatre was built in 1928. The Byrd Theatre is both a State and National Historic landmark and will be celebrating its 82nd birthday on Christmas Eve.

Bill greeted the employees as they arrived at the theatre and presented them with a bag full of treats including gift certificates and candy. The concession stand stand was open for complimentary popcorn and drinks. Once everyone was seated, he and Byrd G.M, Todd Schall-Vess, had a few announcements to make. Bill thanked his staff for the hard work and great job that they have done for the company this year. This is a time of year when the spirit of giving and making memories is everywhere, the employees were acknowledged for their own contributions. He reminded them and asked them to to be proud of the many contributions that they collectively made to local charitable causes throughout the year. The dealership has helped raised money this year for the M.D.A., Susan Komen Foundation, the United Way and and is currently selling Christmas trees to raise money for the Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother program. Bill mentioned to those in attendance that The Byrd   was the very first movie theater that he remembers coming to as a child and has fond memories of those days. It was the dealerships goal to create a fantastic memory for the employees and their families for years to come. And judging from the excitement exhibited by the staff after the movie was over and everyone was leaving, the dealership definitely achieved that goal. The dealership has posted several photographs of their event on its Facebook page. Please feel free to visit the page and "like" it to become a fan.

A special guest of the dealership at the party was local artist Daniel Pritchett, who painted the "Byrd Theatre" painting in the lobby. Daniel has set up a website devoted to the sale of prints of the painting, a percentage of which has always gone to the Byrd Theatre. If you would like to view the different sizes of prints that are available please visit his Byrd Prints website.

The dealership and its employees enjoyed their day at the Byrd. The dealership wishes to thank Byrd G.M, Todd Schall-Vess, and his staff for the great service that they provided. It was a wonderful surprise that the theatre invited Bob Gulledge to play the organ for us prior to the show. If the buzz around the dealership on the day after the event is any indication, there just might be a repeat performance at The Byrd next year.
